Having started as a teenager in karting, Nic became a full-time mechanic for race car constructor, Alexis, building and running Formula Ford and Formula Three cars. This included engines, gearboxes and chassis set-up, as well as the races themselves.
With a new family to support, Nic left full-time racing and established his first workshop. However, the desire for competition was still strong and during this time he built many cars for stage and circuit. These included; Mallock Clubman race cars, Mk1 and Mk2 Escort RS2000, Austin Mini, Opel Kadett and Manta rally cars, plus a Skoda Favorit built for the FIA/RAC Rally of Britain. In between all of these, Nic managed to find time to build his own 1380cc Mini Cooper S which he himself competed in. He has even returned to his roots, building and running karts up to British Championship level. More recently, Nic has built, modified and prepared several track day cars.
While working with Andy Chapman, Nic worked on several sports racing cars including; Chevron B8, Chevron B16, and the Aston Martin-powered Lola T70 [driven by Formula One driver, Jonathan Palmer]. He also rebuilt the engine for the well-known Aston Martin Project DP215 during its restoration by Nigel Dawes and Chapman Spooner. Nic and Andy also worked together in preparing an Aston Martin DB6 rally car for the historic Monte Carlo rally.
Nic is able to bring all of this experience and expertise together and improve your classic and sports car, ranging from suspension set up through to a complete competition preparation service.
